The Friends of the Farmington Library will hold the 11th annual Farmington Kitchens and Gardens Tour on Saturday, June 13. Tour includes: a historic village colonial, three exciting homes in the Williamsburg neighborhood with state of the art kitchens and professionally landscaped gardens, a turn of the century Unionville home with exotic plantings and stained glass windows hand-crafted by the owner, a hilltop home on Prattling Pond and a tour inside Hillstead Museum and it's Sunken Garden. Luncheon and boutique vendors will be at the Hillstead Museum. Tickets to the vent, which benefits the Barney Library restoration, are $20.00 in advance, $25.00 the day of the tour. Tickets will be availble after May 18th. For more information call the library at 673-6791.

The Friends of the Library will hold two Fall specialty book sales. On October 17 from 10-2 Children's books will be offered. On November 21 from 10-2 "Nearly New" books will be offered just in time for the holiday season. This sale will feature coffee-table books, gardening and cookbooks and adult fiction.
Friends Gifts to the Library 2009
In the past year 2009 the Friends of the Farmington Library have been very active & successful in raising monies for a variety of library needs through 3 book sales, June Garden tour and our annual membership drive. We cannot begin to thank all our volunteers, townspeople and local businesses for their continued support of our many activities. We are very proud to be able to fund the following this year:

We are also involved in promoting literacy in our community and beyond. We supported the collection of new books for the “Giving Tree” for the Catholic Charities of Hartford. And, books not sold at our major book sale were contributed to state prison libraries, the Farmington Senior Center and other local charities.
The Organization:
The Friends of the Farmington Library is a supportive group which has approximately 700 members with a working committee of 35-40. Membership is open to anyone. The annual fee is $15 for an individual and $20 for a family. Sustaining and Patron memberships are also available for a larger donation.
