Concerts: The Hartford Brass
Quintet will present our first concert on
Sunday, January 29th at 2pm.
Coming Home: Contemporary
Prize
Winning Novels
Home, and coming home, has many
meanings. However close heart is to hearth, coming
home is never easy.
Join Professor Jim Brogan as he leads us in a
discussion of 5 contemporary novels every two weeks
beginning in March. Copies of each novel are
available and
registration is requested by calling the reference
desk 673-6791.
We will be discussing Snow Falling on Cedars,
Beloved, The Shipping News, The Stone Diaries, and A
Thousand Acres.
The Ancient Alexandria
Library Remembering
Hypatia novelist, Brian Trent, will explore the
background surrounding the library of Alexandria and
the titular subject of his novel, the last guardian
of this largely forgotten edifice.
His novel was praised by NPR's Faith Middleton
and was featured in the Yale Bookstore's author
series. The novel may be purchased and signed at
the conclusion of the lecture.
Due to potential weather situations, registration
is requested. The presentation will be on Tuesday,
February 21 at 7 p.m.
E-audio books.
This is
an e-newsletter exclusive. Watch for downloadable
audiobooks in the month of March. These mp3
formatted books can be played on any computer and
may mp3 playing devices. Ask the library in March
about this new exciting service.

4-week workshop on Monday Evenings from 6:30-
