The Summer Reading Program begins June 24 for kids the day after school ends. Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales is the theme and plan for lots of adventures at the library over the summer. Wacky Wednesdays are back, a pet show is planned, and many other adventures are in store.

The Adult Summer Reading Program begins June 26. Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales is the theme. Adults get a free coffee for every 4 books they read. Get a jump on getting your free summer reading coffee by following this link and printing out the log. Redeem it after June 26!

Chefs and Books: Ann Howard joins us again, discussing Julia Child's "My Life in France" on Tuesday, June 27 at 7pm. Registration is required. Other chefs are in the wings.

Name the Reading Mascot Our Clifford-size puppy is looking for a name. Email your suggestion to flchild@farmingtonlibct.org. The library's dog is chocolate brown and likes to eat lots of doggie biscuits.

3rd Annual Teddy Bear Picnic Bring your favorite teddy and a bag lunch. Wednesday, June 28, 11am. Registration required. Click down to the Children's section for more details and other crazy events in the last week of June.

Hallmark Card Authors: The library will host Hallmark writer Diana Manning and author Renee Andriani on Wed, June 21, at 11am. Please register by calling 673-6791. Hear about the their creative process.

Summer Hours begin June 17: The Barney library is closed and Main Library open 9-1 on Saturdays throughout the summer until after Labor Day.

Jun 19: Summer Independent Film Festival, Every Monday, the library will have a wonderful film at 2 & 7pm. Anytown USA is a funny and eye-opening look into a hard fought mayoral race in Bogota, NJ, between a legally blind conservative Republican incumbent, a retired Democrat re-entering the fray, and a legally blind write-in candidate. A quirky behind-the-scenes look at American politics. It is in English
Jun 21: Hallmark Cards Artist and Writer Tour, A Hallmark Cards artist and writer will present a program at the Farmington Library. Share stories of how cards have made a difference in your life and hear what inspires the artist's and writer's creativity. 11am.
Jun 19: Summer Independent Film Festival, Hawaii, Oslo Five stories about love are interwoven in Oslo on the hottest day of the year. Everyone is running from something, searching for something, dreaming of something else. Norwegian w/ English subtitles. 2 & 7pm.
Jun 27: Adult Summer Reading begins. Redeem your reading logs for fresh cup of coffee or tea, perhaps even a chocolate!

Jun 28: Babysitter Training (American Red Cross) Wednesday, June 28, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room. Pre-registration required. Participation limited. You must attend the full session to be certified. Open to boys and girls, ages 11 – 15. Bring a bag lunch. (PLEASE NOTE: There is a $75.00 fee, payable to American Red Cross, when you register. This fee is set by the American Red Cross and the Library receives nothing.)

Jun 26: Rock Cat's Baseball & Bingo, Meet Rocky the Rock Cat's mascot, hear a story by our special guest and play baseball bingo! Registration required. All ages. 10:30am.
Jun 26: Wind over Wings Start the summer with a "wild" program. Meet these amazing birds, the Laughing Kookaburra, the Great Horned Owl, the Moluccan Cockatoo, and other raptors. All welcome (under 5 needs a parent). Registration required. 7pm.
Jun 26: Tot time, Children from 0-3 and their parents or caregivers share books, music, toys and play. 9:30am. Barney Library
Jun 28: 3rd Annual Teddy Bear Picnic, Bring your favorite teddy and a bag lunch--Be prepared for a Teddy Bear's Parade with ribbons awarded to the cutest, softest, wildest, meekest and many more categories. Join us for the Teddy Bear Hokey Pokey, and Shake it With Your Bear. Punch and Cookies will be served. All ages, registration required, 11am.
